David H. Lee, President and Founder

Mr. Lee has more than 25 years of experience as a commercial real estate principal in all major property types as well as in most geographic areas of the U.S.  As President of Capstone, David is responsible for setting the firm’s strategic direction, initiating new business ventures, developing national tenant and equity partner relationships, and overseeing all major operations including property acquisition, financing, redevelopment, management and disposition.  In 2001, he formed Capstone Group to purchase the properties of Financial Packaging Companies (“FPC”), a commercial real estate tax syndication firm formed in 1969 with properties in over 40 states.  Under David’s leadership, Capstone has achieved a projected gross return greater than 25% on its portfolio of properties.

From 1987 to 2001, David was Vice President and Partner of FPC, where he headed acquisitions and financing and was responsible for redeveloping, managing and eventually selling FPC’s primarily secondary and tertiary market portfolio of underperforming or distressed, formerly tax-motivated properties located in over 40 states, including retail, industrial, office, multifamily, raw land and net-leased properties.  During this time, David developed a unique expertise and program to acquire, and effectively redevelop and manage underperforming and distressed commercial properties in non-primary markets to achieve very high risk adjusted returns.

David received his B.A. in Economics from Columbia College, Columbia University, in 1986.  He is a Certified Shopping Center Manager and member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
